It could only help with efficient usage that would maximize user experience.<\/p>\n<p>Some unique attributes that are frequently brought up by users include the ability to serve dynamic HTTP content using FastCGI, SCGI handlers for scripts, WSGI application servers<\/p>\n<p>Or Phusion Passenger modules, and it can serve as a software load balancer.<\/p>\n<p>To handle requests, An Nginx uses an asynchronous, event-driven approach instead of threads.<\/p>\n<p>This modular architecture helps provide predictable performance under high loads.<\/p>\n<p>Wikipedia lists down more features, categorizing them as below<\/p>\n<h3><strong>HTTP proxy and Web server features<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to handle more than 10,000 simultaneous connections with a low memory footprint (~2.5 MB per 10k inactive HTTP keep-alive connections)<\/li>\n<li>Handling of static files, index files, and auto-indexing<\/li>\n<li>Reverse proxy with caching<\/li>\n<li>Load balancing with in-band health checks<\/li>\n<li>TLS\/SSL with SNI and OCSP stapling support, via OpenSSL<\/li>\n<li>FastCGI, SCGI, uWSGI support with caching<\/li>\n<li>gRPC support since March 2018, version 1.13.10.<\/li>\n<li>Name- and IP address-based virtual servers<\/li>\n<li>IPv6-compatible<\/li>\n<li>WebSockets since 1.3.13, including acting as a reverse proxy and do load balancing of WebSocket applications.<\/li>\n<li>HTTP\/1.1 Upgrade (101 Switching Protocols), HTTP\/2 protocol support<\/li>\n<li>URL rewriting and redirection<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Mail proxy features<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>TLS\/SSL support<\/li>\n<li>STARTTLS support<\/li>\n<li>SMTP, POP3, and IMAP proxy<\/li>\n<li>Requires authentication using an external HTTP server or by an authentication script.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>System prerequisites for installing Nginx<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Nginx requires you to have a regular, non-root user with Sudo privileges configured on your server. \/><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Adjusting the Firewall<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Before testing Nginx, the firewall software needs to adjust to allow access to the service.<\/p>\n<p>An Nginx registers itself as a service with ufw upon installation, making it straightforward to allow Nginx access.<\/p>\n<p>You can pull up the application configurations recognized by and compatible with ufw by running the NginX<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Nginx Full<\/strong>: This profile opens both port 80 (normal, unencrypted web traffic) and port 443 (TLS\/SSL encrypted traffic)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nginx HTTP<\/strong>: This profile opens only port 80 (normal, unencrypted web traffic)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nginx HTTPS<\/strong>: This profile opens only port 443 (TLS\/SSL encrypted traffic)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Since SSL hasn\u2019t configured for our server in these instructions, we will only need to allow traffic on port 80.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, recommended that you enable the most restrictive profile that will still allow the traffic you\u2019ve configured.<\/p>\n<h4>Enable the selection you make by using the command:<\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4609\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cloudsurph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/nginx-reverse-proxy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"58\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 625px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To verify the profile change has implemented, use<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" href=\"https:\/\/www.httpdebugger.com\/http\/http_traffic.html\">HTTP traffic<\/a> and adjusted the firewall.
